Centralised websites
In 2014, ITS began a process of transforming UQ’s web and digital presence - through a combined effort of development, design and content transformation. We are consolidating our websites and online information into key centralised websites - my.UQ (Current students), Current staff and Campuses. The centralised websites make it easier for users to find the information they need.
3. Updating and maintaining content
UQ’s centralised websites use a content publishing workflow, allowing organisational units to effectively manage their content after migration. The workflow includes an oversight step performed by the ITS Digital Content team.
Roles
There are three key roles within the Drupal content management system which supports UQ’s web publishing model.
Business area
Editors are responsible for creating and maintaining content within centralised websites. Editors can edit most content types, but cannot publish pages live. Editors send content updates to a Reviewer prior to publishing.
- Required training: UQ Drupal fundamentals
Reviewers are responsible for approving drafts created by Editors. Reviewers can also edit most content types, but cannot publish pages live. Reviewers send content updates to ITS for publishing.

ITS Digital Content team
The ITS Digital Content team reviews and publishes content updates on centralised websites. They ensure that the content updates:
- adhere to UQ’s Digital Style Guide and web standards
- are consistent across the UQ digital landscape
- do not duplicate content across multiple websites.
Publishing workflow
Trained Editors and Reviewers are granted access to manage their content on the centralised website.
All content updates progress through the following publishing workflow:
- Draft (Editor makes content update)
- Needs review (Reviewer approves content update for accuracy and style)
- Approved to publish (ITS reviews content update for adherence to style guide and web standards)
- Publish (ITS publishes content update)
New pages and significant changes
If you require a new page or a significant structural change to your content, you should first contact the ITS Digital Content team and discuss the content needs.
