In 2014, ITS began a process of transforming UQ’s web and digital presence - through a combined effort of development, design and content transformation. We are consolidating our websites and online information into key centralised websites - my.UQ (Current students), Current staff and Campuses. The centralised websites make it easier for users to find the information they need.

1. Overview

ITS conducted extensive user research with UQ staff and students, to improve the way users find information online. The research recommended that centralised UQ websites should adopt a topic-based navigation model, rather than one based on organisational structure. This approach makes sure that our online information:

  • is user-centred and
  • remains stable and consistent despite future organisational structure changes.

Throughout the development of our centralised websites, ITS ensures that they are compliant with best-practice web accessibility and usability guidelines. UQ’s web content follows a consistent style outlined in the UQ Web Content Guide (PDF, 195KB).

Our centralised websites

Current staff

The Current staff site aims to be the first port of call for all general staff. ITS continues to consolidate content from several existing websites to the Current staff site - bringing together core information and services UQ staff may need to help them do their job effectively.

my.UQ (Current students)

The my.UQ site is the single point of access for all current UQ students, including HDR students. my.UQ provides easy access to information and services students may need throughout their time at UQ (including access to the personalised my.UQ dashboard). ITS is consolidating student content from other websites into my.UQ.

Campuses

The Campuses site caters to staff, students and the wider UQ community and provides detailed information about services and facilities on our St. Lucia, Gatton and Herston campuses, as well as other UQ locations.
